Realizing the Dream of Writing My Family History

Book Release – Lostmans Heritage: Pioneers in the Florida Everglades

After almost 35 years of research, I have finally realized my dream of publishing a book about my family, Florida Everglades pioneers, Lostmans Heritage.

I follow my ancestor, Richard Hamilton (one of the key characters in Peter Matthiessen’s novel, Killing Mr. Watson) and his sons to the ending of an era when the National Park Service evicted the residents, the pioneers, of the Everglades. Along the way I uncover secrets and stories, polygamy, bootlegging, fist fights, murders, gangsters, killers, and tales of tomahawks and missing schoolteachers.
